a summer delicacy

If any of you fellow gardeners are like me, you have an abundance of tomatoes starting to pile up on your counter.  It’s time to get creative.  I have started canning, freezing, making salsa, and sharing with my feathered flock of chickens who find them to be a nice little treat too.

For those who know me, I’m not even a huge fan of tomatoes. I can’t pluck them off the branch and eat them in the garden like some do. However, I love to cook with them and most importantly I love them with a slice of fresh Mozzarella.  So in honor of the abundance of fresh-from-the-vine summer tomatoes, I have a special treat for you.

Burrata, Mozzarella and Cheese

Enjoy some of these great cheeses at an absolutely great summer price.  If you’re not a gardener, be sure to stop by the Weber Farms produce stand in our parking lot and pick up some beautiful tomatoes, grown right here in Indiana.

Cucina Viva’s Fresh Mozzarella is made to order every week on a small dairy farm in Wisconsin.  The farm is sustainable, grows its own crops to feed the herd and uses the waste from the herd to power the creamery and many homes in the area.

Burrata is made from fresh mozzarella and cream. The outer shell of the cheese is solid and the inside contains both mozzarella and cream giving it an amazingly soft texture.

Wine Tip: Pair with Rioja, Tavel, Pinot Grigio

  1. Thanks so much for the update on your cheeses. I have recently seen Burrata and Bufalo Mozz on the Food Channel but had no idea you had them in the store.
