Friends, your humble beer guy would like to tell you a story. A few months into my tenure at Vine & Table, a gentleman approached me with an intriguing new product he had created: Chapman’s Ale Cider. It tasted like an incredibly dry cider with a malt backbone and was unlike anything I had tried before (or since). I knew right then and there this was a product I wanted in the store. Inwardly, however, I worried that this brewery out of Angola, Indiana would turn out to be a one trick pony. Then I got a chance to try their other brews and I was once again impressed!
Now I’m excited to give you the chance to try Chapman’s expanded line of ales for yourself. Join us on Friday, March 28th from 5–6:30PM to sample their Ale Cider, Pail Ale, and Englishman. This free tasting will be a great opportunity to meet the brewer and learn all about Chapman’s current offerings and plans for the future.
We will begin with their Pail Ale (and no, that is not a misspelling), an eminently sessionable pale ale with bright citrus on both the nose and the palate. They describe this ale as “hops done right” and I am not inclined to argue. The Pail Ale is light and crisp and will hit the spot as the weather turns warmer. My true, true favorite brew, however, has to be their Englishman., which is a Southern English Brown in style. This beer is all about the malt and you will enjoy toffee, chocolate, and even a hint of salted pretzel as you sample this brew. The Englishman promises to be a year-round favorite.
This is one of those beer events that you won’t want to miss. See you there!
