Last Minute Gift Ideas

As the names on your gift list shortens, and you’re left with a few you just don’t know what to get, it is time to stop at Vine & Table. I mean, everybody has to eat and drink, so how can you really go wrong? Wrap up everyone on your hard-to-buy-for list at Vine & Table with this thought in mind: share what you love!

Need further inspiration? Here are my favorites:

Best Cheese Shop IndianapolisCheeses: I’d start with a bamboo cutting board, or one of the porcelain cheese plates and add a small cheese selection. The team at Vine & Table can help wrap this up together so it looks great. The plate makes a great gifts that the recipient can keep and cherish, long after they’ve eaten the cheese. My favorites are St. Andre, a French triple-crème cheese that is rich and decadent; Aged Gouda with a sweet saltiness that I love; and the classic Manchego goat’s milk cheese from Spain. I personally am not a big fan of blue, so usually instead of gifting something I don’t love, I instead reach for something like Marcona almonds or crisp flatbreads. For that special someone, I add a bottle of wine. Since I love Spanish reds, that’s what I would give, but give what you love.

Ghyslain ChocolatesChocolate: I mean, who, when you say, “Would you like some chocolates”, says, “No, I don’t really enjoy chocolates”. Vine & Table has a great selection of Ghyslain Chocolates. Boxed assortments are available in a number of sizes. These liqueur chocolates are like little works of art and whimsy. Made locally, in Indiana in European style with the best ingredients. When I was little, my mom would always order chocolates and pastries out of a catalog for Christmas dinner. While my taste has changed a bit from mail-order sweets, the memory of chocolates around the holidays still warms my heart. Share a little bit of you in the gifts you choose. If you want to show a whole lot of love, add some hot cocoa mix, a bottle of Godiva Liqueur and some mugs.

Wine: There is a theme here… pick something you love. And how thoughtful if you include a quick note about why you love it. Perhaps something you always enjoy on your birthday. Perhaps you visited the vineyard. Perhaps someone special gave it to you as a gift for a special occasion. Whatever the reason, share the story. Giving gifts is about the story. Want to round it out, toss in something that is related, that they can keep like a decorative stopper, or Riedel glasses, etc. You get the idea.

Champagne: Champagne is the quintessential holiday gift. I mean, with New Year’s Eve wrapping up the holiday season, a gift of Champagne, especially good champagne is the perfect gift. I’d pair it with a couple of special flutes that the person on your list can keep to toast many special occasions or more gourmet goodies. Looking for something special? Try RuinartToasty, floral and full-bodied, with a soft aftertaste, this has a great aromatic swathe initially, with only hints of Chardonnay minerality. The wine is delicious, with ripe white fruits and light acidity to finish. –Wine Enthusiasts
