For me, the art of the cocktail during the summer comes down to one word, simplicity. This means selecting drinks that are easy to make and create the least amount of cleanup, which allows you to get back to your friends, book, suntan or freckle spotting in my case! By having a few good spirits and some fresh ingredients on hand what could have been an ordeal becomes no big deal at all.
Watch this space in the coming weeks as I reveal my other picks in this Art of the Cocktail series, and let me know how you like them!
Daiquiris were made for summertime drinking with their clean, crisp, sweet yet refreshing flavors – as long as you use good ingredients, of course. Here is a great recipe with a twist. The twist being the addition of one of my favorite fruits… the pear. And the best pear liqueur, hands down, is De Brillet Pear Liqueur from the renowned house of Brillet in Cognac. This is one of France’s great liqueurs, a blend of Brillet Cognac and the essence of Williams pears that have been picked at their peak ripeness, macerated, then blended with the elegant Cognac. It is simple, refreshing and delicious.
Try it and let me know what you think.
