Summer Sparkling Cocktails

Mon, Jul 24, 23

I'm sure I don't need to tell many of you how much I love wine, but even I like to switch it up every once in a while. So, I figured this would be a good week to talk about some of my favorite cocktails for the summer, all of which have wine in them, of course!

Here are a few options at different skill levels.

Level 1: Aperol Spritz
The iconic aperitivo cocktail of northern Italy. If you haven't had one of these, you have to. It's equal parts bitter, sweet, and refreshing!

  • 1.5oz Aperol
  • 2 oz sparkling wine (prosecco if we're being traditional), I recommend the Frico Frizzante canned sparkling.
  • 2 oz club soda, I recommend Fever Tree

Level 2: Negroni Sbagliato
This cocktail has recently become popular in pop culture. It's a great variant on the classic Negroni, replacing the gin with some bubbles.

  • 1oz Campari (or Cappelletti)
  • 1oz Sweet Vermouth
  • Top with Sparkling Wine

Level 3: French 75

When I think of a sparkling wine cocktail, this is the first one that comes to mind. This is a big crowd pleaser, and a great way to elevate a champagne toast.

  • 1.5oz Gin
  • 3/4oz Lemon juice
  • 3/4oz Simple syrup
  • Shake the first 3 ingredients and strain into a champagne flute.
Top with 2-3oz of a champagne style sparkling wine, I recommend Raventos Blanc de Blanc

Three easy cocktails that can break us from the monotony of middle-summer. Come on in and we can get you set up to try these at home, and let me know which one is your favorite!
