Hidden Napa Gem, under the radar – so far!

My job is to seek out and find rare hidden gems that drink so spectacularly that you just have to get the most stock you can. This is one of those hidden gems that flies so far under the radar and drinks so well it’s criminal that no one knows about it. All the better for us! This is a ‘side project’ for Elliot Stern, owner and winemaker of Oakville East Exposure, who is known for his (Cab) ‘Franc n Stern’.

This could just be the Napa Cabernet find of the year!

The winery sources grapes from all over Napa but I’m guessing the hint of Rutherford dust gives its origins away. This really is special- a shining example of Napa Cabernet excelling at what it does best, at a fraction of the price from where it’s drinking.

The nose is an open invitation to enjoy and to entice you in further with dark fruits and an interesting sweet floral note. The mouth feel is velvety smooth with almost seamless layers of blackberries, blueberries, black current, chocolate and subtle spices on the finish. Give it an hour in a decanter and you will be both surprised and rewarded.

Buy online: Torchbearer Napa Cabernet 2016 $29.99 – $34.99 Elsewhere
